About Jarod Missimer

I enjoyed taking photos on my phone. Beautiful skies, group photos, selfies, nature. Turns out I was really good at photographing people more than anything. After some thought, I figured I would turn a hobby into something more. I am a big advocate for capturing moments, no matter how small people may think the moment is. Pictures last a lifetime. There are times when a memory pops in my head and I wish that I had captured it. I know that photography can often be a money maker for those who turn it into a career. While I want to make money, I never want to drain bank accounts. Photoshoots can be expensive! I want to help all of you create those everlasting memories while keeping some money in your pocket!

I am based out of Berks County. The 9 Collective is a small business in Lancaster, Pa that has trusted me to photograph all of their events until 2025. I am also the official photographer for Three Legacies Wrestling. I have photographed food, nature, people, sports. I've done a little bit of everything in the world of photography. I am willing to try anything. I have experimented with smoke sticks, fire bubbles, and wide variety of props. Now, thanks to where I started and the people that supported me, I am honored to be the in-house photographer for Studio 401.

About Studio 401

Studio 401 came to life in a matter of a couple months! We realized Jarod needed an actual studio space to help elevate his skills and showcase his abilities. We knew what we wanted the studio to be. We did not want to be a traditional, cookie-cutter studio. There are plenty of those around! We wanted to be unique, but also not stray too far from the path. Boudoir sets were definitely a must. But how can we make it different? Most studios have white walls and bright accents. Not us! Black, gray, purple basil walls with a white brick wall! Along with the colored walls, we use vintage furniture as well as modern furniture to keep things different!

Being that the studio is inside of a sports complex, and the area is a big sports demographic, we also knew we needed to offer sessions relating to athletes and sports families. Sports portraits and professional headshots are of course important as well.

That still wasn't enough for our crazy minds!

Jarod has shown that he is very good at producing high quality images under blacklights. So, we wanted to add blacklight sessions for all ages! We use skin-safe paint and accessories that glow under blacklights. There aren't many photographers that offer something like that, especially in the area.

Jarod has also done some work with fire bubbles. The studio is big enough for that, so why not? Fire bubbles can be used with almost any session. The solution for the bubbles is a safe way to ensure we can capture the photos without burning anyone. We've had a lot of practice with this, and I must say, we create some fantastic photos with the fire! These work great for any athlete too! Much like the blacklights, we haven't seen many photographers offer something like the fire bubbles, so that is another point where we stand out!

The studio director, Shannan, has always wanted a studio where people can be different. After all, if we were all the same, life would be boring! Shannan and Jarod crossed paths at wrestling shows, then they started working together when Jarod hosted boudoir sessions at The 9. Shannan was a consistent model for those sessions.

During the Air Force and real-life post-military, Shannan dipped her feet in modeling. She got back into modeling a bit when she realized that life only happens once. Might as well enjoy yourself and love yourself while you can.

With her experience, Shannan acts as the owner and director of Studio 401. No matter who steps foot in the studio, Shannan will be there to make sure the clients are comfortable and confident, while Jarod uses his knowledge to capture the picture-perfect moments. Young, elder, male, female, non-binary, black, white, blue, orange, no matter what you identify as, no matter who you are, Studio 401 welcomes you! Have something crazy or non-traditional you want captured? THAT IS WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR!

Much like how those traditional spas can cause anxiety because they feel so elegant and you may feel out of place, studios can feel the same way too. The white walls and brightness of studios may cause some anxiety because it feels so elegant. Studio 401 offers a comfortable and relaxing safe space to be yourself! Models, athletes, content creators, influencers, and even the average Joe, you are ALL welcomed at the studio!

The prices of those traditional studios can also cause some anxiety. Believe me, photoshoots can be expensive! At Studio 401, we want to capture those beautiful moments without draining your bank account.
